What is CTPAT?
The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) is a supply chain security program implemented by US Customs and Border Protection in 2001. Since then, this voluntary program has grown to having 11,400 certified members. The focus is on improving US border security by building cooperative relationships between US Customs and Border Protection and organizations within supply chains, such as manufacturers, importers and customs brokers.
The CTPAT initiative asks businesses to introduce strict security procedures and then enforce them throughout their supply chain. In return, participating businesses will be considered low-risk and granted access to Free and Secure Trade (FAST) lanes for product customs clearance at US borders.

What is a CTPAT audit?
A third-party CTPAT audit helps to assess, validate and ensure the enforcement of security measures by overseas manufacturers that export to the United States.
An audit provides verification of compliance and helps to identify potential vulnerabilities so that they can be addressed and resolved. The findings from an audit contribute to the vulnerability and risk assessments that CTPAT members must complete.
