Product Inspections

QIMA product inspection services ensure that your products match your desired specifications. Learn more about how QIMA can help guarantee your suppliers produce high-quality products.

Product inspections are a vital component of a business’ quality control program. They help to ensure quality control in the manufacturing process, and can protect against product recalls, customer complaints, and reputational damage.

Through an independent inspection, inspectors help to check that your product specifications including quality, functionality and performance requirements have been met. Ultimately, product inspections prevent defective products from reaching the end consumer.

We cover inspections throughout the entire production process from initial production check, during production checks, container loading check, pre-shipment inspection and production monitoring.

Initial Production Check (IPC)

Our initial production checks are used to catch any issues that might affect production at the earliest stage possible.

During Production Check (DUPRO)

Our during-production inspection involves putting inspectors on the factory floor to ensure that your production is on track.

Container Loading Check (CLC)

Our container loading checks will ensure that your production order has been completed and loaded correctly before you sign off and settle final payment.

Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)

Our pre-shipment inspection is a comprehensive inspection that ensures that your production order has been completed correctly.

Production Monitoring (PM)

Our production monitoring service puts an inspector on your factory floor to continually monitor production.

What Happens in a Product Inspection?

During an inspection, a QIMA inspector will check products at certain production stages against a comprehensive checklist.

In each inspection, this checklist is tailored according to the product in question and the needs of the client. However, checks typically assess the following:

  • Specifications

  • Dimensions

  • Function

  • Appearance

  • Performance

  • Workmanship

Packing and packaging is also typically checked and product-specific tests are usually conducted. Checks can also be made according to the stage of production that has been reached. For example, inspections carried out at the start of production will include checks of raw materials.

Off-the-shelf checklists are available that are designed to match particular products. If customized checks are required, you can add to one of these checklists or create your own.

Sampling Procedures

For all non-food product inspections, we use the internationally recognized ANSI / ASQ Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) statistical sampling procedure. This procedure ensures that the inspected products are a representative sample, not a sample that your supplier wants you to test. The test inspects attributes of a product and establishes a percentage of nonconforming units for every 100 units. To determine the sample size and acceptance threshold, we use the acceptable quality limit (AQL) international standard.
